Hole In the Wall Theater Hosts “The Nether”
The Hole in the Wall Theater is hosting the Backyard Theater Ensemble‘s presentation of Jennifer Haley’s The Nether.
“The Nether is a virtual wonderland that provides total sensory immersion,” the Theater describes the play. “Just log in, choose an identity and indulge your every desire.”
“But,” the Theater says, “when a young detective uncovers a disturbing brand of entertainment, she triggers an interrogation into the darkest corners of the imagination.”
John Bosco, writing for the Hole in the Wall Theater’s blog, called The Nether, “Jennifer Haley’s gritty crime-filled sci-fi story.”
“Directed by Tina Parziale,” Bosco writes,
The Nether is a glimpse into the future of the internet…especially its darker side, where desires can be indulged anonymously, and one detective must dive into one of its most heinous realms, with consequences that are not confined to the digital plane.
The Theater says the play is, “presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.”
The play opens at the Hole in the Wall Theater on Friday, October 15, 2021 and runs until Saturday, October 23rd.

Backyard Theater Ensemble says that it,
is a collaboration of artists devoting their time, experience and resources to produce theater that inspires, challenges, and entertains both performers and audiences. Guided by our collective artistic vision, volunteer artists each fulfill multiple roles on stage, behind the scenes, and in the community. These roles capitalize on members’ talents while also acknowledging weaknesses to empower growth. We create theater that is a powerful instrument asking all ensemble and audience members to confront the realities of our world.
The Hole in the Wall Theater says that it, “has been a staple of the New Britain arts community for over 40 years. Through the hundreds of shows we’ve produced, our mission has always been to make theater accessible to everyone.”
“Every one of our members – from our actors, to our directors, to our tech, maintenance, and administrative team – are volunteers,” the Theater has said, asking those interested in volunteering to visit its auditions web page and volunteer web page.
