Trinity-on-Main to Show Rocky Horror Picture Show Movie

With Halloween approaching, the Trinity-on-Main performance venue is to show the movie, โ€œThe Rocky Horror Picture Show.โ€

On its website, Trinity-on-Main says will present the โ€œRocky Horrorโ€ movie on the Friday before Halloween.

Trinity-on-Mainโ€™s online tickets website says that there will be a showing of the film on Friday, October 29, 2021 8:00pm.

The venue invites people to, โ€œCome watch the movie, purchase a prop bag, Get a beverage from the bar, visit our concessions area, but come see our beautiful theater and watch the movie with us.โ€

Trinity-On-Main says that its presentation of the movie is, โ€œBack by popular demand.โ€

The film is widely considered a cult movie. Writing for Huffington Post, Curtis M. Wong said that,

When โ€œThe Rocky Horror Picture Showโ€ was released in 1975, it was a critical and commercial failure. Shortly thereafter, however, the film began gaining a cult following thanks to late-night screenings, first at cinemas in New York and, eventually, in other cities across the country and around the world.

In its article, โ€œโ€˜The Rocky Horror Picture Showโ€™ Taught Entire Generations to Embrace Queer Expression,โ€ Tom and Lorenzo writes that, โ€œIn many ways, The Rocky Horror Picture Show represented one of the biggest cultural triumphs of the queer art community immediately post-Stonewall,โ€ adding, โ€œItโ€™s long been described as a โ€˜cult film,โ€™ but no film with this much lasting influence and this many fierce fans could ever truly be seen as something hidden or unknown to the public.โ€

June Thomas, writing for Slate, said,

Just five months into its run at the Waverly Theatre in New York, people started talking back at the movie, and soon after that, costumed players began to stage parallel performances in front of the screenโ€”in full replica costumes and makeup.

Audience responses to the filmโ€™s dialogue and various audience props coinciding with the movieโ€™s plot also became part of the traditions of the cult following of โ€œThe Rocky Horror Picture Show.โ€

Trinity-on-Main says that it,

is central Connecticutโ€™s premier venue for live performances, events and rental space. We present everything from rock concerts and stand up comedy to live opera and civic events.

Trinity-on-Main is located at 69 Main Street in downtown New Britain. โ€œPlenty of free parking across the street at the Chestnut Street Parking Garage,โ€ The venue says.
