Racial Justice Coalition Seeking Interns
The New Britain Racial Justice Coalition (NBRJC) is taking applications for unpaid internship organizing and positions.
“NBRJC is looking for interns for the springtime,” the organization says. “Those interested in social justice, electoral politics and/or public policy are encouraged to apply.”
“This is an unpaid position and is designed for high school and college students who need volunteer hours or an internship for-credit.”
“Interns,” the Coalition says, “have the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects based on their interest and NBRJC’s capacity,” adding that, “Interns will be trained and supervised by a board member. They are expected to dedicate 2 hours per week to the internship.”
The Coalition says it is looking for interns for, “Organizing (door knocking, phone banking, leading community meetings),” and, “Communications (Drafting emails, making graphics, writing press releases).”
The organization has an online application form for the internships, saying that the application deadline for the spring semester is December 29, 2021.
Emerging from the 2020 summer of protests and activism against systemic racism in the wake of the killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis, the New Britain Racial Justice Coalition has sought to bring results from demands for change made during the protests.
The Coalition says that its mission is, “To empower people in the New Britain Area to challenge racism through political education, coalition-building, electoral engagement, policy advocacy, mutual aid and direct action.”
