BMA Names Pastor Dana Smith Man of the Year

The New Britain Black Ministerial Alliance has named Pastor Dana Smith of New Life II Ministries as its Man of the Year.

The Black Ministerial Alliance (BMA), led by Pastor Gervais Barger, Sr., Pastor of Peace Missionary Ministries, presented Pastor Smith with the honor for his dedicated work in the New Britain community.

Pastor Smith was the BMA’s honoree at the annual Emancipation Proclamation Day Service, held in collaboration with the NAACP New Britain Branch on January 1, 2022.

Pastor Smith’s biography says that he

has worked in the community; helping to organizing basketball tournaments, family events and has founded a men’s group called unshakable Men. Dana also assists with feeding the homeless, and is part of the Greater New Britain Re-entry round table.

Pastor Smith has also served as the President of the North-Oak Neighborhood Revitalization Zone, the neighborhood organization for the North and Oak streets neighborhood. In that position, he has worked to organize neighborhood residents and advocated for a greater voice for the people of the neighborhood.

Pastor Smith has worked with other organizations to support for people in need, from food to school backbacks to winter clothing.

His biography says Pastor Smith,

is trained as an Integrated Healing Coach, National certified peer specialist, recovery coach, recovery support specialist, and suicide prevention gatekeeper instructor.
