Hole in the Wall to Perform “Heartless”
Sam Shepard‘s play “Heartless” is to be performed by New Britain’s Hole in the Wall Theater in the month of January.
The Theater’s website says that the play, set to premieres January 14, 2022, “explores the irrevocability of our past, and the possibility of life begun anew.”
“When Roscoe, a retired Cervantes scholar, runs off with a young woman named Sally,” the Theater’s promotion of the play says, “he decides to stay a while in her family home in Southern CA,” continuing that,
Soon he discovers her house is filled with secrets, sadness, and haunted women who cannot leave themselves or anyone else in peace. … the forces of the house conspire to make Roscoe question his assumptions about everything. Scars and histories are revealed and show what happens when the secrets simmering within a family boil over.
The cast of the Hole in the Wall Theater’s production of the play includes Keith E. Nelson, playing the part of “Roscoe” and Khara Hoyer as “Sally.”
The Theater announced that, “Sally’s suspicious sister,” “Lucy” is to be performed by Kristen Nicole Bennett, “Mable, their Shakespeare quoting invalid mother,” is to be played by Barbara Gallow Liskow and that Anna Petrova is to play the part of “Elizabeth” or “Liz”, “Mable’s lovely and mysteriously mute nurse.”
“Heartless” is to be performed from January 14th to 29th.
The Hole in the Wall Theater says that it, “has been a staple of the New Britain arts community for over 50 years. Through the hundreds of shows we’ve produced, our mission has always been to make theater accessible to everyone.”
