With its second annual ‘Winter Snuggled Bundle of Care’ Drive, NHSNB says that it, “was able to collect over 500 pieces of winter wear, as well as over 150 hygiene products.”

The New Britain non-profit organization says that, “Many of the warm clothing items were knit, sewed, or crocheted by members of the community.”

NHSNB says that donations were made to Smalley and Northend Elementary Schools in December, saying that, “The items were packaged and separated into 200 bags filled with winter wear (100 per school), in addition to 50 bags filled with hygiene items (25 per school).”

Smalley School Principal Andrea Foligno and Assistant Principal Arleen Torres Ruiz said that, “The need was great and all materials donated along with Smalley’s toy drive made our families’ holiday just a little bit brighter and warmer this year. Especially right before the December break! It was great to see ‘good cheer’ being spread in our community!”

NHSNB says that, “Senior Centers of Rocky Hill, Berlin, and Plainville as well as South Church all donated a substantial amount of items, or assisted with the drive in other ways,” and that, “Additional items were able to be purchased due to generous donations from the community.” NHSNB says that it thanks all those who donated.

‘Winter Snuggled Bundle of Care’ Drive was continued into a second year, and expanded after the great success of the program in the previous year, NHSNB says, when it was created, “as a way to address the need for warm winter wear for children and families of New Britain schools.”
