Art League Taking Entries for “Nothing But Flowers” Exhibit

The Art League of New Britain is planning a, “themed exhibit celebrating flowers,” and has put out a call for artists.

“Open call to artists!” the Art League says.

Saying, “Artwork should contain some reference to flowers and the floral world,” the League says that the exhibit is, “Open to all artists.”

The exhibit is to be, “Juried for prizes,” the League says by Tania Pichardo Weiss of the CCSU Art Gallery.

The prizes, the Art League says, are to be a, “$200 First Prize, $100 Second Prize, $75 Third Prize,” as well as Honorable Mention for $50 and a Juror’s Award for $50.

The League has made an online registration form available,” saying that, “We are asking that you register ahead of time to simplify the entry process.”

The Art League has distributed a prospectus and forms for the exhibit, saying that eligible work includes, “Original art, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, etching, lithograph, linocut, collage, photography, digital art, mixed media, assemblage,” adding that, “No copies or reproductions of original art allowed,” and noting fees for entry.

The Opening Reception for the exhibit is to be on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Art League.

The exhibit is to continue from February 11th until March 6th. The League’s normal gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The gallery is, “free and open to the public,” the League says, and that masks are required in the gallery.

“The Art League of New Britain, a non-profit organization, is the second oldest art league in the United States,” the Art League says. “Founded in 1928, its original mission was as an art school holding both day and evening sessions. In 1934 it transitioned into an art club where artists could work together and gather for social affairs.”

The Art League of New Britain is located at 30 Cedar Street.
