Hungerford Park To Host “Arctic Explorations” Program

The Hungerford Nature Center at New Britain’s Hungerford Park plans an Arctic Explorations” Program for kids.

“We think it’s cold outside our door in Connecticut,” the Nature Center says, “imagine being a Polar Bear in the Arctic? Or a Walrus on an ice float?”

The Nature Center says that the program is to, “learn how these animals and people can survive and stay warm, even when living on snow and ice! From Penguins to Seals and Icebergs to Igloos we will explore, build, dance and sing our way through our learning.”

The program, the Nature Center says, is for children, “3-5 years old (children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver ).”

The 2022 program is either, “Wednesdays, February 9, 16, 23, March 1st or Thursdays, February 10, 17, 24, march 2nd,” the Nature Center says, from 9:15am to 10:15am.

The Nature Center says that the program is free for members and $5 per class for non-members, adding that space is limited. “Call 860-827-9064 to register,” the Nature Center says.

The Nature Center says that, “We will of course meet some of our nature center animals who also have unique ways of surviving the cold!”

“We will try to spend part of a class outside if the weather permits, so please plan accordingly,” the Nature Center says, “Come join us for a chillingly good time.”

The Nature Center says that it, “offers educational programming, exhibits and special events that relate to environmental education, biological and animal sciences, and STEM.”

The Hungerford Park Nature Center, located at New Britain’s Hungerford Park, is a part of the New Britain Youth Museum.

The Nature Center is located at 191 Farmington Avenue in Kensington.
