“She Kills Monsters” To Be Performed at Hole in the Wall
Qui Nguyen’s “She Kills Monsters” is to be performed in the next play at New Britain’s Hole in the Wall Theater.
“With dazzling swordplay, homicidal fairies, sentient jello-molds, bugbears, succubi, and maybe a dragon or two,” the Theater says, “‘She Kills Monsters’ is an ass-kicking, name-taking, dark dramedy offering a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.”
Directed by Terrance J. Peters, the play’s producers are Shawna Martine and Angelina Savelli, with executive producer Tim Adams.
The cast includes Sarah Etkin as “Agnes”, Zoe Hayn as “Tilly”, Stephen Kalpin as “Chuck”, Kendra Daisy Garnett as “Lilith”, Kerrie Maguire as “Kaliope”, J. Mason Beiter as “Orcus”, Kirsten Easton-Hazzaa as “Vera”, Greg Mahoney as “Miles”, C S Dunn as “Steve”, Lily Kops as “Farrah”, Sydney Yargeau as “Gabbi” and Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick as “Tina”. Kuhlken Gorman performs as the Narrator.
The “Fight Ensemble” is performed by Asia Juanita Aloma, Crystal Madore, Matthew Horowitz, Kate Slomkowski and Jim Miron.
The play, the Theater says, is, “the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in the mythic land of O-HI-O, 1995, following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly.”
“When Agnes discovers her sister’s last adventure module left unfinished,” the Theater says, “she finds herself catapulted into a high-octane journey of discovery and adventure in the imaginary fantasy refuge of ‘New Landia’.”
The play premieres on May 13, 2022 and continues to May 28th.
Tickets for the play are available at the Theater’s tickets web page. General admission, the Theater says, is $25 and, for students and seniors is $20.
“Pay what you can Fridays,” the Theater’s says.
The Theater notes that the play is, “Recommended for audiences chill with a PG-13,” saying that the, “Show contains mild adult language, bad-ass fights, some brief heavy smoochin’, and brief fire effects.”
The Hole in the Wall Theater says that it, “has been a staple of the New Britain arts community for over 50 years. Through the hundreds of shows we’ve produced, our mission has always been to make theater accessible to everyone.”
