Staff Reports
NEW BRITAIN – The New Britain chapter of the League of Women Voters (NBLWV) continued its voter registration drive on National Voter Registration Day Tuesday, September 20th at the New Britain Public Library on High Street where volunteers signed up patrons for the November 8th election and shared information on referenda questions to appear on New Britain ballots. The NBLWV will also register voters at Stop & Shop on West Main Street from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the next two Thursdays, September 22 and 29.
In addition to getting people registered to vote, the New Britain chapter is disseminating information about the State and City Ballot Questions in the fall “to educate the public about the ballot questions before they go to the polls so that they can make an informed decision.”
“November 1st: MAIL-IN AND ON LINE VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE SEVENTH DAY BEFORE ELECTION DAY. All mail-in voter registration applications must be received or post-marked by this date in order to be accepted for the November 8, 2022 election. Note: 11:59 p.m. on this date is also the deadline

Locally and statewide the League is urging a ‘yes’ vote to begin the process of changing the Connecticut Constitution to allow early voting. Connecticut is one of only four states not to allow early voting options. The League is also sharing concise explanations of proposed city charter changes on two other questions to be included on ballots in an informational flyer.
