FARMINGTON – Candidates and local Democrats gathered at The Rebel Dog Coffee Co Tuesday morning (November 1) for a Meet & Greet with Governor Ned Lamont ahead of the final televised gubernatorial debate.
2022 Campaign
State Rep. Mike Demicco (D-21) joined with other Farmington candidates in the final stretch of the campaign before Election Day on November 8th. Representing five voting districts in Farmington and Unionville, Demicco is a former high school and middle school history teacher. He served on the Environment Committee, the Public Health Committee, and the Energy & Technology Committee in the General Assembly in 2022.
Prior to becoming a state representative in 2012, Demicco served on the Farmington Town Council for four terms. Republican Town Council Member Joe Capodiferro of Unionville is the Republican candidate in the 21st District. Capodiferro is a realtor and former town police officer and is serving a second term on the seven-member Town Council.
Candidates at the Meet & Greet with 50 attendees from towns in the Farmington Valley included State Senator Rick Lopes (D-6), Judge of Probate Evelyn Daly, who is unopposed, and; Beth Kintner, the candidate for Democratic Registrar of Voters.

In the State Senate Farmington is represented by State Senator Derek Slap (D-5) and State Senator Lopes. Slap of West Hartford is running unopposed and New Britain’s Lopes is opposed by the New Britain Republican Town Chair Tremell Collins.
Democratic officials in Farmington are hoping for a high turnout in the state election for the hotly contested Demicco-Capodiferro state representative contest and the Governor’s race, a rematch between Lamont and Bob Stefanowski.
In the 2018 gubernatorial election in Farmington the turnout was 66.4 percent when Republican Stefanowski edged Lamont 6,028 to 5,810. The third party Griebel-Frank party led by the late business leader Oz Griebel received 858 votes, just under 7 percent of voters. This year the Griebel-Frank third party now known as the CT Forward Party endorsed Governor Lamont having received sufficient votes statewide four years ago to retain its ballot line this year. The Lamont-Bysiewicz ticket also received the endorsement of the Working Families Party (WFP) in this year’s election.
Of the more than 20,000 voters in the Town of Farmington (20,557, 2021) 42% are unaffiliated, 33% Democratic and 23% Republican.
