Top 10 of 2022: #2: Attorney Bill Rivera Is First Hispanic Elected To Probate Court

New Britain appears to have made history in the state by electing the first Latino as Judge of Probate. It is a proud moment, not just for Attorney Bill Rivera, but for the New Britain community, as well as for Berlin.

Judge-elect Rivera, who was, in the past, the Majority Leader of the New Britain City Council, has been a well-known attorney in New Britain, Berlin and beyond. As judge of probate, his responsibilities will include trusts and estates, including probating wills; overseeing testamentary and living trusts; determining title to real and personal property; and determining the meaning of wills and trusts. In many respects Probate is a family court handling legal matters for families and individuals at important transitions in their lives.

As in every year, there was so much news that the New Britain Progressive covered 2022 that choosing our traditional Top Ten stories of the year is difficult. But the history made by soon-to-be Judge Rivera and the New Britain community makes this the #2 of the New Britain Progressive‘s Top Ten Stories of 2022.
