New Britain Public Library Hosting Mark Twain House Presentation
The New Britain Public Library invites people to a, “Mark Twain House Presentation: Without Money or Moneyed Friends.”
“This program explores the relationship between Mark Twain and Charles Ethan Porter, a prominent Black painter in Gilded Age Connecticut,” the Library says. “New research has enriched what we know about this relationship and its connections to changes in art patronage and philanthropy in the Gilded Age, including the influence of Candace Wheeler, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Karl Gerhardt, and Livy Clemens. The event is Wednesday, January 10th at 5:30pm in the Community Room.
