Ward 3 Resident Supports Candyce Scott for Democratic Town Committee
By Elizabeth Phillips,
I’ve known Candyce Scott for nearly three years, and have had the opportunity to work with her on several community events. Ms. Scott is newly elected to the New Britain City Council, however she is no stranger to the many committees, boards, and other organizations involved with the improvement of New Britain. For two years, Ms. Scott served on the New Britain Board of Assessments. For over a decade, as a degreed and trained therapist, Ms. Scott has provided individual, family, and group counseling, with a special strength in teaching everyone how to cope with adversity and how to resolve individual, family, and group problems with positive attitudes and actions.
In addition to her daily counseling job and daily/weekly community meetings, Ms. Scott created a non-profit organization, S.U.R.E. (Safety Usually Resolves Everything) for the purpose of mentoring and educating individuals, families, and community members in the areas of career coaching, wellness coaching, and life skills. The S.U.R.E. program includes an Anti-Racism component to provide a safe place for discussing concerns, feelings, and thoughts about racism and its impact on the entire community of New Britain. This program highlights current events, explores racial identities, and examines the many benefits of diversity within all levels of the community.
I believe that Candyce Scott will be an active member of the Democratic Town Committee, and will bring to that committee her energy, fair-mindedness, open communications, and genuine love for the entire New Britain community! I intend to vote for her on March 5 at the Democratic Primary.
