Three Members of CCSU Community Win Latino de Oro Awards

A Central Connecticut State University student, and the University’s President and a Vice President were recognized at the recent Latino de Oro Awards presented recently by Identidad Latina Multimedia.

CCSU noted that, “The Latino de Oro awards were created in 2005 to recognize Latino and non-Latino individuals whose professional accomplishments have made a positive contribution to the Latino community.”

Central student Isabel “Mandy” Young received the student award at the ceremonies.

The University’s President, Zulma R. Toro, received the Trajectory Award, CCSU said, “in recognition of her personal achievements and outstanding contributions to the Hispanic community in Connecticut.”

“Standing before you,” said President Toro, “I am filled with a sense of humility and pride, recognizing that this accolade represents not only my personal journey but also the collective efforts and aspirations of our community.”

In addition, to Young and Toro, the Education award was presented to CCSU’s Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Carmen Veloria.
