Council Reconsiders Contracting Award and Refers to Committee

The City Council voted to reconsider an item previously approved that would allow for contracting for, “On- Call Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Building Envelope, Masonry, and Interior Repairs,” of up to $100,000.

The Council Majority Leader, Ald John McNamara (D-4) made the motion to reconsider the item, which was approved on a voice vote.

The proposed resolution says that, “the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the above-listed firms for the provision of On-Call Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Building Envelope, Masonry, and Interior Repairs and Supplies for City and CSDNB Buildings for a two (2) year period, October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2026 with the option to extend for an additional three (3) one (1) year periods.”

Ald McNamara said that because the resolution represented, “a new way of doing business,” different from city ordinance, that the Council should vet the proposal first. He made a motion to refer the resolution to the Council’s Committee on Administration, Finance and Law and Public Services for further consideration.
