There is to be a film screening and discussion about the documentary, “The 29th Connecticut”.
Wide Awake Films says that,
“The 29th Connecticut” is a short documentary film about the eleven African-American soldiers who enlisted near Berlin, Connecticut, during the American Civil War. The 29th Regiment of United States Colored Troops, formed just after Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, fought in critical battles near the end of the war and helped to secure freedom from enslavement for all United States citizens.
The screening, on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 7:00pm at 115 West Main Street, is sponsored by Ald Candyce Scott (D-3).
