The Hungerford Nature Center is holding a Beers and Bears, “to raise critical funds for the continued support of its mission.”
The Hungerford Nature Center, located on New Britain’s Hungerford Park, is an affiliate of New Britain Youth Museum.
The Nature Center says that,
This exciting evening is designed for adults ages 21 and older to enjoy a unique mix of local craft beer, cider, bear education, and a great sense of community. The event will feature tastings from Long View Cider House at Rogers Orchards and local craft breweries, all in support of the Center’s mission to spark curiosity, nurture understanding, and encourage stewardship of our natural world.
The event is to be April 11, 2025, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Nature Center, located at 191 Farmington Avenue in Berlin. Tickets and other information are available on the Nature Center’s website.
“The evening,” Nature Center says, “will feature a master wildlife educator from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), who will provide fascinating insights into bear behavior. Attendees will have the chance to view bear-related artifacts and hear intriguing stories about bear encounters,” adding that, “The event will feature complementary beer tastings from local breweries, cider tastings from Long View Cider House, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Tastebuds on Hungerford will provide complimentary eats to satisfy attendees. Guests can also enjoy bear trivia and prizes, as well as a raffle.”
Dr. Tami Christopher, Executive Director of Hungerford Nature Center, says that, “It is the perfect time of year for this important fundraising event. Everyone is excited to get outside with the spring weather, and this is a great opportunity to gain knowledge about the bears that might be in your neighborhood, while enjoying a fun night with friends and supporting an important legacy organization.”
