
Polish Day at the State Capitol Celebrated by New Britain Residents and Elected Officials
New Britain residents and elected officials carried on a long tradition on May 2nd, celebrating Polish Day at the State Capitol.

The 2025 Polish Day was hosted by Rep. Dave DeFronzo (D-26) with Lt Gov Susan Bysiewicz (D). Remarks about Polish Day history were shared by by Deborah Krawiec, and Gov Ned Lamont joined in the celebration.

Honorees at this year’s event featured former State Senator and Representative Terry Gerratana (D) and former Democratic Registrar of Voters Edward Dzwonkowski.

Connecticut’s Polish Day at the Capitol event was founded by former State Representative Stanley J Krawiec (D-26).


That tradition was continued by former State Representative Anthony Tercyak (D-26), former State Representative Peter Tercyak (D-26) and now Rep DeFronzo.

The event, held for 34 years, is in commemoration of the anniversary of the Polish Constitution, enacted 234 years ago.

At the event, State Rep Bobby Sanchez (D-25) honored former State Sen Kevin Witkos (R-8).


Former State Commissioner, Senator and Mayor Donald DeFronzo (D) was joined by Rep Garry Turco (D-27) and other local and state leaders in the celebration, as well.
