Remarks during the Asian American and Pacific Islander Festival at CCSU on April 30, 2025.
I am so excited to be here because I am an alumni of CCSU. This is my home, and my responsibility to be here. I am so proud of my school during these turbulent, troubling times.
I am a therapist who cares deeply about helping our community heal. This is why I ran for public office. I am currently a member of City Council here in New Britain, where I stand against hate and work towards eliminating fear in our community. This is why I have submitted several resolutions to help support inclusivity here in this community, so that we can work together no matter where we came from – and together and celebrate each other’s beauty.

On May 14th, at the city council meeting at 7:00 p.m., I will be presenting the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month resolution. I encourage everyone to please come to the meetings, not just this one but every single one of them. Try to watch them from home if you cannot come, and try to be a part of what is happening locally here in New Britain.
I just want to say a couple words about Asian Pacific American heritage month.
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is a time to honor the rich history, vibrant cultures, and meaningful contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. As we celebrate this month, we also recognize the importance of unity, inclusion, and mutual respect across all backgrounds. By standing together and embracing the diversity within our broader community, we build a stronger, more compassionate, and more resilient society for everyone.

So, please join us on May 14th.
I hope that you can reach out to me if anybody needs me, and I hope I’ll be able to partner with you – doing more things that are celebrating everybody who lives in this country – because everybody matters. Everybody is important, no matter what is happening here in this country. Just remember that that we all matter, and stand against anything that tries to divide us.
Thank you so much. Peace and love.
