The New Britain City Council will hold a hearing on a proposal to require that city department heads have four-year renewable terms of office.
The proposal was made by Ald Candyce Scott (D-3) at last week’s Council meeting.
The new city ordinance (local law) would require that,
At the conclusion of each four-year term, any department head seeking reappointment shall come before the Common Council for consideration of renewal, subject to the same review and confirmation process as an initial appointment.
The Council’s Committee on Administration, Finance and Law and Public Services is to hold a public hearing on the proposal on October 1, 2025 at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers in City Hall.
