The New Britain Symphony Orchestra says that it, “ushers in spring in this, its 76th year,” announcing that it is presenting “A Time for Peace” symphony concert.
The Orchestra says that,
Under the baton of Maestro Toshi Shimada, the NBSO welcomes the Farmington Valley Chorale, directed by Ellen Gilson Voth. The program includes Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, a work that begins in darkness before rising toward the light. The intent, however, is very different. It delivers an urgent cry for universal harmony in the face of looming horror, and a call to take a stand for peace—before it is too late.
“Also featured is the beloved Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland and Shenandoah, an American folk song dating back to the early 19th century,” the Orchestra says, adding, “Guest soloists will be: Soprano Rochelle Bard and Baritone Mark Womack.”
The concert is to be March 22, 2026, from 3:00pm to approximately 5:00pm, and will be presented at the CCSU Welte Auditorium.
Registration and more information is available at the New Britain Symphony Orchestra website.
