Hugh & Messer at NBMAA First Friday
The New Britain Museum of American Art‘s popular First Friday event will feature the music of Grayson Hugh and Polly Messer for its August edition.
The event, which the Museum calls, “New Britain’s Best Happy Hour,” is a monthly social occasion, featuring music, drinks, socializing and, of course, the Museum’s widely reknown art collection on display.
This month’s edition of the popular event will be on Friday, August 2, 2019. The event is open from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.
In describing its August performers, the Museum says that,
An accomplished musician, Hugh’s major label debut album, Blind To Reason (1988), was certified Gold in the United States, and his second release, Road To Freedom (1992), was hailed as “one of the year’s best” by Billboard Magazine, and featured several global radio hits including “Talk It Over,” “Bring It All Back,” and “How ‘Bout Us.” In 2015, he was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Americana Album category. Polly Messer, formerly of Eight to the Bar, is a swing singer who has been complementing Hugh’s music with her incredible vocals.
“At 6 p.m., art lovers are welcome to explore our collection in a tour guided by one of the Museum’s knowledgeable docents.,” the Museum says.
Adult admission to the event is $7 for Museum members and $12 for non-members. Tickets for the event are available online. Drinks are available at the cash bar for $4 to $8.
“Connect with friends and make new ones with the galleries as your backdrop at the NBMAA’s First Friday,” the Museum says.
New Britain Museum of American Art is located at 56 Lexington Street.
