NAACP to Encourage Students on First School Day

The NAACP New Britain Branch is again organizing its annual event to encourage students as they arrive for the first day of the school year.

“The New Britain Branch of NAACP will do what we do every year,” said Ronald P. Davis, President of the NAACP New Britain Branch. “We are calling for Black Men to meet students at the Jefferson Elementary School, 140 Horse Plain Road to meet Dr. Lewis and staff as we greet students to school as they walk into the building to begin their 2019-2020 academic school year.”

Dr. Shamel C. Lewis is the Principal of Jefferson Elementary School.

Classes for the 2019-2020 school begin in New Britain schools on September 3rd.

“Our goal,” says Davis, “is to show support to administrators, staff and students at the beginning of the school year in partnership with the school and our community.”

The event is to be from 8:15am to 8:45am on September 3rd.

Davis acknowledges that the time of the event is during many people’s working hours, but says, “please if you are willing to, contact your place of employment and request permission to be part of this movement for our children.” adding, “The Village support goes to our children.”

Davis asks anyone with questions or who is willing to participate to contact him at 860-944-1237 or rdavis6681 at aol.com.
