North-Oak Neighborhood Clean Up Planned

The organization, Friends of Willow Street Park, has announced that it is organizing a North-Oak neighborhood clean-up day.

“It’s our community,” says Pastor Dana Smith, who is a resident of the North-Oak neighborhood, “and we are going clean up our community.”

The clean-up event is planned for Sunday, March 1, 2020, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Organizers encourage people who would like to volunteer in the clean-up to meet at 1:00pm in front of Teeza’s Barbershop, which is located at 188 North Street, between Erwin Place and Oak Street.

“Supplies are limited,” organizers say. “If you can, please bring a broom, some garbage bags, work gloves, or other items to help clean up the sidewalks on North Street.”

Organizers add, “Pizza will be provided for participants after the cleanup.”

“Please come join us,” Smith said online, “and bring a broom.”

Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain, Inc. is collaborating with Friends of Willow Street Park in organizing the event.

The rain date for the clean-up is Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 1:00pm.
