School District to Announce Re-Opening Plans

The Consolidated School District of New Britain says that it will soon announce its reopening plans and will hold a virtual town hall on it for parents.

The school district said, on July 17, 2020, that it will be submitting its reopening, “plan to the CT Department of Education next week, and at that time, we will share it with all of you.”

“Because we understand that many of you may have questions, concerns, and feedback regarding the upcoming school year,” the school district says, “we will be holding a virtual town hall to discuss our plan and give you opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback in real-time.”

“Here in New Britain,” the school district says, “our planning is three-fold. We are planning and preparing for full student re-entry, a hybrid model that will include 50% student attendance, and a full virtual environment.”

The school district adds that,

Following our town hall session and after you have had a chance to view our plan, we will be sending out a brief survey that will ask what your intent is for your child(ren) this coming school year. You will have two options – one is that you intend for your child to return to their school building on the first day of school, and the other is that you intend to keep your child home and have them participate in virtual learning at the start of the school year.

The school district says that, “we will be publishing our reopening plan after submitting it to the State. We will notify you via our social media platforms, text message, email, and our website at csdnb.org.”

The date and time of the virtual town hall meeting will be announced soon, the school district says, “so be on the lookout for that invitation. Please note that you will need to register in advance to attend the town hall session.” The school district says that a “replay” of the town hall will be available for those who are not able to participate.

The school district encourages parents to ensure that their information is up-to-date on PowerSchool to receive information that it will be sending.
