Summer Stuff-A-Cruiser Event to Collect School Supplies Donations

New Britain Police are conducting their annual, “Summer Stuff-A-Cruiser,” event collect school supplies for New Britain kids.

“We are looking to stuff a couple of our cruisers with school supplies to help City children and families,” the New Britain Police Department says.

The event is to be both this Saturday, August 15, 2020 and Sunday, August 16, 2020. The is to be 11:00am to 3:00pm both days.

The event is to be at Target at 475 Hartford Road.

New Britain Police say that have already received a $500 donation for the drive from Community Mental Health Affiliates and a donation of school supplies by the New Britain Fire Department.

The Police Department says that it is seeking donations of:

  • Ballpoint pens
  • Pencil pouch
  • Erasers
  • Sharpeners
  • Ruler
  • Protractor
  • Scissors
  • Personal calendar
  • Pocket folders
  • 3-ring binder
  • 3-hole punch
  • Index cards
  • Subject dividers
  • White-out
  • Highlighters
  • Markers
  • Glue Sticks
  • Graphing calculator
  • Wide ruled loose-leaf paper
  • Graph paper
  • Drawing paper
  • Watercolor paints
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Stapler
  • Locker accessories
  • Lunchbox
  • Backpack

New Britain Police say that donations are also being accepted “24/7” at the Police Station at 10 Chestnut Street.

The event was originally scheduled for last weekend, but a Target manager reportedly prevented the fundraising activity, causing the event to be rescheduled for this weekend.
