Lacourciere Endorses Sanchez in 24th District
Democrat Richard Lacourciere announced his endorsement of Democrat Ald. Manny Sanches (D-AL) in the election for the 24th Assembly district.
Lacourciere and Sanchez, both Democrats, were candidates in the 2020 Democratic primary for the seat, at which Sanchez was chosen as the Democratic nominee.
In video comments on Facebook, Lacourciere said, “during the primaries, it is natural that we focus on our differences.”
“But after hearing Manny’s message to the voters,” Lacourciere said, “how important we have single payer health care here in Connecticut, how he is going to work to protect working people from power utility companies, I know he’ll be a force for good that we need up in Hartford.”
“And that is why I am supporting Manny Sanchez to be the Twenty-Fourth District State Representative,” Lacourciere said. “I am excited to hear, when he is up in Hartford, all of that great work he is going to be doing for us.”
Alden Russell is the Republican candidate for the seat. Russell’s campaign website says that his issues are to, “lower spending,” but also to support more resources for education, disability services, road repairs and substance abuse and rehabilitation services.
The 24th Assembly district includes the West End, Willow Brook and southern East Side neighborhoods in New Britain and the south west corner of Newington.
