Racial Justice Coalition Seeks to Hire Community Organizer

The New Britain Racial Justice Coalition says that it is seeking to hire a community organizer to expand its advocacy and organizing efforts.

The Coalition says that it is seeking, “to fill a grant-funded community organizer position in our organization.”

“The community organizer will be responsible for helping us grow and mobilize our membership and the New Britain community,” the Coalition says, noting that the organizer should have a, “Special interest in building power among low-income people of color to fight for social, economic and racial justice.”

The community organizer would, the Coalition says, work “coordinating with community partners, mobilizing people for events and speaking to community members about sensitive issues.”

The Coalition says that they are looking for, “a self-motivated and responsible candidate,” who, “Must be extremely comfortable working directly with marginalized communities.” The Coalition says that the organizer’s responsibilities are to include, “community outreach and mobilization,” recruit and train volunteers and coordinate with other community organizations.

“Additionally,” the Coalition adds, “the organizer will be trained in grant writing and will be expected to write grants for the organization.” Noting that the organizer should be comfortable communicating through social media, the Coalition says, “Fluency in Arabic or Spanish desirable.”

The Coalition has posted information about the position in a Google document posted online, and said that resumes and cover letters can be sent to [email protected].
