Virtuosi Orchestra to Celebrate Composers of the Second Polish Renaissance

New Britain’s Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra will perform will perform music from the “Second Polish Renaissance.”

The performance is being held in collaboration with the Central Connecticut State University Polish Studies Program.

The concert, the Orchestra says, presents,

the most significant Polish composers of the XX century. The so-called Second Polish Rennaisance was a great cultural achievement, not only for the Polish nation but for the whole region. It was also the result of cultural influences from major cultural and historical events of that time.

The concert is to be tonight, March 5, 2021, at 7:30pm.

As of March 4th, the Orchestra said that, “There are still a limited amount of in-person tickets available for Friday’s concert at Trinity-on-Main in New Britain! Masks are required; and social distancing protocol will be in place,” directing people to the tickets website for the concert.

The Trinity-on-Main performance and art venue is located at 69 Main Street.

The concert is also to be presented online on the Orchestra’s Facebook Live channel.

The Orchestra says that it will perform,

Mieczysław Karłowicz – Serenade for Strings, Op. 2
Karol Szymanowski – String Symphony (String Quartet No.2, Op.56, arranged for the string orchestra)
Jakub Kowalewski – Cantabile for Strings

The Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, headed by Adrian Sylveen, founder and artistic director, says that it, “is Connecticut’s premier professional chamber orchestra, based in the Greater New Britain area, and dedicated to presenting both traditional and contemporary works to the public.”

The CCSU Polish Studies Program says that it,

offers courses in history, politics, culture, literature, language, and on the Polish American ethnic community. The Polish Heritage Collection in the University Library, numbering over 21,000 catalogued books and periodicals, supplements course offerings. The Connecticut Polish American Archives is a research depository for the public, scholars and students of the Polish community in America.
