Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra to Perform Annual Polish Christmas Concert

The Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra is to perform Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21 at its Annual Polish Christmas Concert.

The Polish-American Foundation of Connecticut is providing the community patronage for the presentation of the event.

Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21 is to be performed with Nathaniel Baker, piano soloist.

The concert is to feature, “A selection of Polish and other popular Christmas Carols and Tunes with soprano Jurate Svedaite, and Moniuszko Choir and Guests,” the Orchestra says, adding, “The Selection will include several arrangements by Polish composer Jakub Kowalewski.”

The Orchestra adds that, “The program will include the Carols sing-along.”

The event is being presented as a free holiday celebration, the Orchestra says.

It is the be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 7:00pm. The concert is to be at the First Church of Christ Congregational, which is located at 830 Corbin Avenue.

The Orchestra says that Nathaniel Baker,

has performed as a concert pianist throughout the U.S., Europe, and South America. He studied piano with Luiz de Moura Castro and Irma Vallecillo. Nathaniel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance and Music Theory from The Hartt School and a Master’s in Piano Performance from the University of Connecticut. He presently works as a staff accompanist at the University of Rhode Island. Baker has also served as music director for operatic and theatrical productions at Simsbury Light Opera Company, Choate Rosemary Hall, Madison Lyric Stage, and Seven Angels Theatre.

The Orchestra adds that,

Possessing a vocal artistry and stage presence capable of “transfixing audiences with moments of opera magic,” Lithuanian soprano, Jūratė Švedaitė, has performed throughout Europe and the United States with the Lithuanian National Chamber Orchestra, Connecticut Lyric Opera, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Kaunas (Lithuania) Chamber Orchestra, Classical Orchestra of Piła (Poland) and the Lithuanian National Ensemble “Lietuva” among others.

The Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, established in 1997, says that is mission,

has been to preserve and perpetuate the great traditions of chamber orchestral music through the expansion of the public performance season, educational programs, and by showcasing the excellence of regional and international talent.

The Orchestra is led by its founder and artistic director, Adrian Sylveen.
