Trinity-On-Main to Host TubaChristmas Concert
The music of tubas will once again celebrate the season, as the seventh annual New Britain TubaChristmas is to be performed.
Once again, New Britain will join other cities across the country and world for the annual event. The event, organizers say, is a, “free Christmas concert.”
The New Britain TubaChristmas is a part of the forty-seventh anniversary of the international TubaChristmas.
The Harvey Phillips Foundation, Inc., of which TubaChristmas is a program, says,
The first TUBACHRISTMAS was conducted by Paul Lavalle in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink on Sunday, December 22, 1974. Traditional Christmas music performed at the first TUBACHRISTMAS was arranged by American composer Alec Wilder who ironically died on Christmas Eve, 1980. Wilder composed many solo and ensemble compositions for tuba and euphonium.
The New Britain TubaChristmas will be held today, Saturday, December 18, 2021. The public performance is to be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at New Britain’s Trinity-On-Main arts venue.
The event is an, “all tuba Christmas concert and festive carol sing,” organizers say. “Great fun for the whole family!”
New Britain TubaChristmas says that the event’s 2021 playlist includes “Adeste Fideles”, “Deck the Halls”, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”, “The First Noel”, “Good King Wenceslas”, “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”, “O Little Town of Bethlehem”, “Komm Susser Tod”, “Silent Night”, “Carol of the Bells”, “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, “Jingle Bells” and “Joy to the World”.
While organizers say that, “There is no charge to attend,” orders for lunch are offerred on the Trinity-On-Main tickets website.
“Pre-purchase your lunch for Tuba Christmas,” Trinity-On-Main says, “and don’t be left hungry. Choose from several options. Meals include: sandwich, chips, beverage.”
“Masks are required for the audience,” event organizers say.
