Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day Remembrance To Be Held
The annual New Britain Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day remembrance is to be held on the longest night of the year.
“December 21, the longest night of the year, is remembered annually as Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day,” the Friendship Service Center says, “a time when we remember the people who lost their lives while experiencing homelessness.”
The event, organizers say is, “to remember and honor their lives,” and, “is also intended to raise awareness of homelessness.”
The event is to begin at 4:00pm in Central Park in downtown, near the city’s official Christmas tree.
“This is a community event and all are welcome to attend,” organizers say.
