NHS Receives $5,000 Grant From NBT Bank for Financial Counseling
Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain (NHSNB) has announced that it is receiving a NBT Bank grant of $5,000.
President & CEO of NHSNB, Chris Sanders, said that, “NBT Bank has been a generous supporter of our efforts to offer financial empowerment services to the community we serve.”
NHSNB says that the funding is to support its program that, “provides financial coaching to those needing assistance getting back on track to financial stability.”
Sanders says that the NBT Bank grant, “will help us to bring our financial education and counseling to locations within those communities and reach more people in need of help.”
NHSNB says that, in its financial education and counseling program,
HUD-certified instructors and counselors offer a Financial Fitness workshop and one-on-one counseling, all free of charge. Those attending learn how to set a personal budget, manage bill payments, and prevent possible foreclosure or eviction.
NBT Bank’s Connecticut Regional President, Andreas Kapetanopoulos, and Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Banking Relationship Manager. M. Kate Van Valkenburg, who also serves on the NHSNB Board, presented the grant.
Kapetanopoulos said that, “Giving back and supporting the organizations that make our communities better places to live and work are among NBT Bank’s core values and something we take pride in doing.”
“NHSNB has a track record of working with the New Britain community that makes a difference,” Kapetanopoulos added.
