CCSU Nursing School to Host “Baby Shower” to Provide Information on Resources for Pregnant Women

The CCSU Department of Nursing has announced that it is hosting its second annual community baby shower event, in which,

Central Nursing students and other volunteers will provide guests with information about local resources for pregnant women, including local doulas, nurses, lactation consultants, the Hospital of Central Connecticut Family Birth Place, Wheeler Clinic, and other community organizations.

CCSU says that its Nursing Department

will host the event in partnership with Dr. Lucinda Canty, founder and director of Lucinda’s House, a nonprofit organization based in Windsor with a mission to improve the health and wellbeing of women of color. Lucinda’s house strives to create environments where women of color feel safe, supported, and can become an active part in eliminating structural barriers to improve their overall health and wellbeing.

The event is to be Saturday, March 9, 2024. Organizers say that, “The shower will take place in Alumni Hall in the Central Student Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parking will be available in the Student Center lot.”
