Dave DeFronzo Announces Candidacy for State Representative
Former City Council member Dave DeFronzo (D-AL), announced his candidacy for the 26th Assembly District seat, after State Rep. Peter Tercyak (D-26), announced his retirement after serving the district for 21 years.
DeFronzo, the son of former state Commissioner, State Senator and Mayor Donald DeFronzo, was joined in the event by Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz (D), State Attorney General William Tong (D) and other important figures in the Democratic Party.
Also supporting him at the event were Rep. Tercyak and the other members of the current New Britain state legislative delegation, State Sen. Rick Lopes (D-6), Rep. Manny Sanchez (D-24), Rep. Bobby Sanchez (D-25) and Rep. Gary Turco (D-27).
In addition, former State Senator Terry Gerratana (D-6), Probate Judge William Rivera (D) and Farmington State Rep. Mike Demicco (D-21) joined the event.
DeFronzo and fellow Democrat and former Council member Aram Ayalon (D-3) are both seeking the open seat in this year’s elections. As yet, no Republican has filed a candidacy with the state.
The announcement event was held on April 2nd at Roma Restaurant.
