CT People’s Survival Program Launches Community Violence Intervention Series in New Britain

The CT People’s Survival Program has announced a three-part Community Violence Intervention Series, noting that it is, “focused on equipping community members with practical skills to interrupt and transform violence.”

The CT People’s Survival Program is a 501(c)(3) affiliate of the New Britain Racial Justice Coalition (NBRJC).

The organization says that,

In collaboration with the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) Connecticut, this series will provide interactive workshops on Communication, Anger, and Domestic Violence, fostering conflict resolution skills, emotional regulation, and nonviolent communication.

“AVP Connecticut,” CT People’s Survival Program adds, “has a long history of facilitating transformative workshops, including within Connecticut’s prison system, where formerly incarcerated facilitators bring decades of experience in conflict resolution and community healing.”

Organizers have announced that the event schedule is,

  • Wednesday, February 26 | 5:30–8:30 PM (Food at 5:00 PM) – Theme: Communication
  • Wednesday, April 2 | 5:30–8:30 PM (Food at 5:00 PM) – Theme: Anger
  • Saturday, April 26 | 12:00–3:00 PM (Food at 11:30 AM) – Theme: Domestic Violence

The events are at the CT-PSP Office at 115 West Main Street in New Britain.

Organizers say that the events are free and open to the public. “We encourage community members, activists, educators, and anyone committed to reducing violence and fostering peace in their neighborhoods to participate.”

“This series is about equipping our community with the tools to resolve conflicts peacefully and break cycles of violence,” the CT People’s Survival Program says. “By working together, we can create a safer, more just future for New Britain and beyond.”

The CT People’s Survival Program says that it,

is dedicated to addressing systemic inequities and empowering communities through grassroots organizing, political education, and community support. As an affiliate of the New Britain Racial Justice Coalition, we work to create lasting solutions for justice-impacted individuals and historically marginalized communities.
