Ward 4 Council Primary
The September 9th Primary Day has arrived for the Democratic nomination for City Council in Ward 4.
In the primary, Ward 4 Democratic voters will choose two candidates for the Ward 4 Council election, as part of the city elections in November. Each of the city’s five wards are represented by three Council members, called “Alderpersons”, but each party is only allowed to nominate two candidates in each ward.

The New Britain Democratic party has endorsed two candidates in the election, Ald John McNamara (D-4), who is the Council’s Majority Leader, and Luz Ortiz-Luna. Ald Neil Connors (D-4) is a petitioning candidate for the nomination.
As in the general election, voters may only vote for two candidates.
Ward 4 represents most of the northern parts of the city and includes:
- Voting district 12, whose regular voting place is St Francis School.
- Voting district 13, whose temporary voting place is St Francis School.
- Voting district 14, whose regular voting place is Pulaski Middle School.

Primary day is September 9, 2025, from 6:00am to 8:00pm, at voters’ regular or temporary voting places, for Democratic registered voters who have not already voted by primary day.
