Art Schaller and Hometown Foundation Bring New K-9 Gus to New Britain Police
The New Britain Police Department is expanding its K-9 unit with the addition of K-9 Gus. The Hometown Foundation, Inc says that it,
is excited to share that thanks to a generous donation by Art Schaller of Schaller Auto World, the New Britain Police Department will be adding “K-9 Gus” to their K-9-unit team. K-9 Gus, named after Art’s grandfather, Gustave J Schaller and founder of the dealership, will proudly serve New Britain and help keep this community safe.
Mayor Bobby Sanchez praised the new addition and the collaborative effort that made it possible,
This partnership reflects what’s possible when local organizations, businesses, and law enforcement work together to keep New Britain safe.
A dual-purpose patrol dog who recently graduated from an intensive four-month training course, K-9 Gus is trained in narcotics detection, tracking, and suspect apprehension.
A graduation celebration for K-9 Gus and his handler, Officer Mike Silverio, will be held on Tuesday, January 20, at 12:00pm at the new Schaller Honda building located at 1 Veterans Drive.
The Hometown Foundation, Inc says that it, “is a non-profit charitable organization committed to supporting those in need in conjunction with Bozzuto’s, Inc., its family of retailers and community business partners.”
