Literacy Volunteers “Love of Literacy” Event

Gil Gigliotti, host of “Frank, Gil, & Friends” on CCSU’s WFCS 107.7, will host the Literacy Volunteers of Central CT “Love of Literacy” event.

Gigliotti, a CCSU Professor of English and Latin, will host the event that organizers say, “will feature musical entertainment by the Valley Chordsmen, a four-course dinner, a cash bar, a plant sale, and other ‘fun-raising’ activities.”

Literacy Volunteers of Central CT says that it serves New Britain and a number of other cities and towns, providing, “small group and one-on-one literacy tutoring,” adding,

In addition to the adult literacy programs, LVCC’s Central CT Family Literacy Center is a unique, collaborative program that addresses needs identified in a community-wide coalition to address the needs of children in New Britain. The center serves women with children under eight years of age who want to learn English or earn their GED but who need childcare to receive services.

Literacy Volunteers of Central CT says that, “New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart will be recognized at the event with LVCC’s third Mission Medal Award for her long-time advocacy for LVCC.”

The event is to be May 2, 2024, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. Literacy Volunteers says that, “Tickets will be $85 per person for general seating and $600 for a table of eight with reserved seating.”
