Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Wreath Laying Planned

The Mary McLeod Bethune Club, the city and the Black Ministerial Alliance of New Britain are planning the annual Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The event is to be on April 6, 2024 at 11:00am at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.

The event, themed, “Educating our Future,” will feature Jefferson School Principal Dr. Shamel C. Lewis.

The event is an annual celebration of the Rev. Dr. King and the continuing work of the Civil Rights Movement each April, commemorating his assassination on April 4, 1968.

The event is held at New Britain’s Monument to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., located at the corner of Stanley Street and Smalley Street.
