Early Voting in New Britain for 2024 Election

The League of Women Voters of the New Britain Area wants to make sure people in New Britain know about their opportunity to vote in the 2024 election in early voting days – and is advocating a “yes” vote on a ballot question to allow voting by mail for everyone.

The general election occurs on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, but voters are permitted under state law to cast their votes before that in early voting days that run from October 21st to November 3rd.

Early voting is at the Senior Center at 55 Pearl Street.

The days and times of early voting are:

  • October 21st, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 22nd, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 23rd, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 24th, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 25th, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 26th, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 27th, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 28th, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 29th, 8:00am to 8:00pm
  • October 30th, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • October 31st, 8:00am to 8:00pm
  • November 1st, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • November 2nd, 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • November 3rd, 10:00am to 6:00pm

For those who have not voted already, voting on November 5th is at the city’s various voting district polling places from 6:00am to 8:00pm.

The League also points out that, “No Excuse Absentee Voting will be on the Ballot this Year,” saying,

Connecticut voters will see this question on their November 5 ballot: “Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?”
A “yes” vote supports authorizing our State Legislators to make absentee voting available to ALL eligible Connecticut voters for any reason. A ‘no” vote opposes any changes, keeping current language in the State Constitution that requires a voter to have a specific reason (from a list of 6) to request an absentee ballot.

VOTE ON THE QUESTION - VOTACION SOBRE LA PREGUNTA
YES/SI NO/NO
Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?
¿Deberia enmendarse la Constitución estatal para permitir que la Asamblea General permita a cada votante votar en ausencia?

The voting rights organization adds that,

The LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF CT recommends a YES vote on this question. As a Connecticut voter, the choice of whether you vote in person or absentee should he YOURS and YOURS ALONE, without having to justify it to anyone else.
