The Consolidated School District of New Britain has announced that New Britain High School Golden Hurricanes Marching Band annual band camp will begin on August 20, 2018 for new band participants and August 21st for all band members.
“If your child is interested in joining band,” says the school district, “or is coming back for another year, band camp is the place to begin. The students begin learning the music for the season, formations for the field, and basic marching steps and commands.”
The school district has announced the schedule of events for the band camp, saying, “While attendance at band camp is manditory for all band members, not everyone is required each day.”
Justin Carlin, the director of the NBHS Golden Hurricanes Marching Band, announced the schedule of events for the band camp, including:
- On August 19th at 6:30pm, there will be a Sub Senior Meeting.
- On August 20th, from 9:00am to 1:00pm is a session for “Freshman, Newbies & Auxiliaries” only.
- On August 21st, 22nd and 23rd, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, each day there will be a session for all participants. Participants are asked to bring a lunch.
- On August 24th, from 9:00am to 1:00pm is a session, “Percussion & Color Guard Only—Auditions”.
- On, Saturday, August 25th, from 9:00am to 1:00pm the Parents’ Music Association will hold a car wash at the Masonic Temple across from Martha Hart Park.
- On August 27th, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, there will be a camp session for the Marching Band. There will be a fundraiser at 2:00pm.
- On August 28th, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, there will be a camp session for the Marching Band. A parent meeting will be held at 7:00pm.
