College Financial Aid Event for NBHS Class of ’19
A “community celebration of the Graduating Class of 2019” will be held on October 20th to help New Britain High School students and their families to apply for college financial aid.
The event is being held in collaboration between the Consolidated School District of New Britain and the American Savings Foundation.
The event will be held in the NBHS cafeteria, beginning at 12:00pm.
There will be lunch and entertainment, after which, according to the the school district and the American Savings Foundation, “community volunteers and financial aid professionals help seniors and their families fill out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid – the FAFSA – the first step in applying for financial aid for any college or university.”
The event sponsors say that, “Workshops and experts will be available to help students learn more about college admissions, financial aid, and applying for scholarships.”
The school district says that participation requires registration in advance, which can be done online at the registration website.
The American Savings Foundation says that,
Both students and parents need to bring the following:
- Social Security Number or Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- 2017 federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- FSA ID to sign electronically. You can create your FSA ID at www.fsaid.ed.gov
“All NBHS seniors and their families are invited to attend this free event,” the event sponsors say.
