New Britain will celebrate the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and continuing work of the civil rights movement on Martin Luther King Day in 2019.
The 2019 Martin Luther King Day will be celebrated on Monday, January 21st.
The City Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities will hold its annual event honoring Dr. King at Trinity-On-Main at 69 Main Street. The event will begin at 10:30am. Light refreshments will be served.
The event will feature artwork and writing of New Britain students and performances by the NBHS Madrigals and others.
The Mary McLeod Bethune Club, New Britain Chapter is hosting the Martin Luther King Jr., City-Wide Celebration at 1:00pm.
Board of Education President Nicole Crawford-Rodriguez will be the speaker at the event, which will have the theme, “Unity2019.”
The event will be held at Spottswood AME Zion Church, at 25 Crestwood Lane.
The Mary McLeod Bethune Club says that, “The Public is Welcome to Attend.”
