Brackets Set for Osgood Shootout
Game brackets have been announced for the 27th Annual Osgood Shootout Basketball Tournament, promising entertaining games with free admission.
The prestigious Tournament, “New England’s Biggest Summer Men’s Basketball Tournament,” has long been known for spirited competition and for bringing the community together. The tournament raises funds for scholarships.
The Tournament is held at New Britain High School.
Games in the High School Division will begin at 9:00am on Saturday, August 17, 2019, with the last second-round game starting at 2:30pm that day.
Meanwhile, in the Open Division, the first games on Saturday will be held at 12:00pm, and the last second round game on that day will begin at 7:30pm.
The Tournament’s Direction, Coach Darwin Shaw, has announced that NBA All-Star player for the Detroit Pistons, Andre Drummond, will play at 5:00pm in the upper gym. He will be playing for the TBG Bookers.
Drummond is one of a number of notable players who will take part in the competition.
On Sunday, August 17, 2019, the High School Division Semi-Final games will be played at 12:45pm, with the Championship Game beginning at 4:30pm.
The first Open Division Semi-Final game will begin at 2:00pm on Sunday, and the Championship Game will begin at 5:45pm.
“Admission to all games is FREE,” Shaw points out.

The tournament has awarded 71 scholarships over the past 27 years and six scholarships have been awarded in the name of the late Albert A. Vieira, a mentor and coach to many of the youth throughout the City of New Britain.
The Osgood Shootout Basketball Tournament is a single elimination competition with a decades of tradition that has featured a long list of notable players.
New Britain High School is located at 110 Mill Street.
