NAACP to Honor, Davis, Brown and Porcher

The NAACP New Britain Branch has announced the three honorees for its upcoming Freedom Fund Dinner.

The NAACP has announced that the honorees for the gala event on September 27, 2019 are,

Trinene Davis, DD(John P. Shaw Community Service Award) Author, children & youth activism,

Pastor Briggitte P. Brown(Lifetime Achievement Award) Ministerial Leader, Clinical Social Worker, Entrepreneur

Christopher Porcher (Political Representation Award)- 1st Black or African American mayoral candidate endorsed by a major political party in New Britain.

The NAACP says that, “Awards are given in recognition of exemplary leadership, achievements and contributions in carrying out the Mission of the NAACP.”

The Freedom Fund Dinner is the annual gala event supporting the mission of the NAACP New Britain Branch.

The theme of the event is, “When We Fight, We Win.”

The Keynote Speaker for the banquet will be Sonserae Cicero, who is Manager of Human Resources at Walgreens Corporation.

The NAACP says that,

As a Freedom Fund tradition, we will be honoring four Influential Black Leaders from the Greater New Britain community that have remained steadfast with their efforts of focus in Economic Sustainability, Education, Health, Public Safety and Criminal Justice, Voting Rights and Political Representation and Youth Engagement to fight against racial inequality and discrimination and social injustice, that is on a rise in our country.

The 2019 Freedom Fund Dinner will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the St. George Hellenic Center at 301 West Main Street.

The event will begin with a social hour at 6:00pm and a dinner program starting at 7:00pm.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person, which includes a one year membership in the NAACP. Tickets are $40 for students, eighteen years of age and younger.

Tickets to the event can be purchased at the New Britain NAACP’s PayPal site.

The NAACP also seeks business and individual sponsorships for the event each year.

The annual Freedom Fund Dinner supports the mission of the NAACP, which the organizations says,

is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

The NAACP was founded in 1909 and is the nation’s oldest and largest nonpartisan civil rights organization.
