Interfaith Alliance Launches Progressive Agenda

Hundreds of people gathered at CCSU’s Welte Auditorium for the official launching of the Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance.

The event, on October 28, 2019 was held to create a broad coalition, organizers said, “including Jews, Muslims, Unitarian Universalists, Friends, and a vastly ecumenical group of Christians.”

Organizers said that the new coalition is to be, “an organization of congregations from across the region, dedicated to building political, economic and social power to create more just communities.”

The group discussed advocating for a range of issues encompassing education, housing, criminal justice reform and education.

Organizers said that, in 2016, the Christian Activities Council in North Hartford began a process leading to the creation of the new organization. “Three years later,” they said, “we are ready to launch the Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance.”
