“The New Britain Schools will begin 2021 – 2022 classes on Wednesday September 1, 2021,” says Ronald Perry Davis, President of the New Britain Branch NAACP,” adding,

The New Britain Branch NAACP will do what we do every year. We are calling for Black Men to meet at the Jefferson Elementary School, 140 Horse Plain Road, New Britain to meet Principal Dr. Lewis and staff and join with them as the busses roll in to greet the students at the beginning of their 1st day of school.

The September 1st greeting for students renews the same event that has been organized by the NAACP in the past.

“Our goal,” Davis said, “is to show the administrators, staff, students, and families our continued partnership and support for our children’s academic success.”

Davis says that, “We are asking you for no more than one half hour of your time on Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.” Recognizing that people have busy schedules precluding participation, “but if you can, if you are willing to make it happen would be much appreciated.”

“This is a call from the village and it’s for the children,” said Davis. “The general public is invited to join us as we greet the students on their first day of school.”
