Nine prominent Black residents are to be honored in a display to be available in City Hall through Black History Month.

The exhibit is presented by the city Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and Mayor Erin Stewart.

“Black history is American history, and it should be appreciated as such,” said Stewart, saying that the honorees are, “notable Black residents who have made significant contributions to our City over the years.”

Saying it is the second year of the event, Jerrell Hargraves, Human Rights Officer for the City said, “I’m looking forward to making this an annual event, highlighting different Black Americans every year.”

The exhibit is to be unveiled in a reception on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 6:00pm on the second floor of City Hall at 27 West Main Street.
